You will need:
2 cups besan (chick-pea flour)
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp ajwain (thymol)
1/4 tsp haldi (turmeric)
1 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp salt tsp or to taste
oil to deep-frying
Method:
Mix the besan, soda, ajwain, haldi, 1 tbsp oil and salt together. Add water and knead into a soft dough.
Take a portion of the dough and roll it like a stick keeping the dough in between ur palms.Place the doungh between two sheets of greased polythene and roll with a rolling pin. This will form a strip. Cut this strip in three parts. Roll each of these pieces and fry them over medium heat till crisp.
This is my contribution to the "Whats your Favourite snack ?event" hosted by SnackORama (SnackORama: Sunday Meals #5 - Indo-Chinese & Whats Your Favorite? Event).
Your Fafda twist is ready. Sprinkle a bit of chaat powder on top of it and serve.
This can also be used in chaat. Will soon post a chaat variety using these fafdas...:)
