This is a very nutritious and healthy dish. I learnt to make this from my dad.... well to be precise he gave me the idea to make different variety dishes from White Oats.This is one such dish, white oats Upma. Do try this dish and see ur kids gobble up this tasty oats dish. This is a good way to make kids eat oats.
Ingredients:
White Oats - 2 cups
Onions - 1 medium
Potatoes - 1 medium
Green chillies - 2
Jeera - 1 tsp
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Nylon sev for garnish (optional)
Oil
Method :
In a strainer put the oats and pour water in it and keep it aside. All the water will get drained down from the strainer.Keep it aside for sometime.
In a pan put some oil. In it put the jeera and the green chillies. Sautee for some time.Now add the chopped onions and let it cook till tender. Add the cubed potatoes, turmeric powder and fry till the potato get fully cooked and a bit roasted.Now once the potatos is cooked add the oats into it... and mix well.Cook it covered for 10 mins on medium flame.Now garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.Add the fresh lemon juice and mix well. Serve in a plate and garnish with nylon sev and serve.
Its a good breakfast or evening snack.

Hi Shubha..i heard tat we can make oats upms frm my uncle but was wondering as to how it can be done.
My hubby doesn't like to eat oats with milk.But i m sure he will like this.will try and let u know..Thanks for sharing.
